I met a guy recently who told me the problem with Nigerians is that we show off a lot. When I prompted him on what he meant he told me Nigerians throw whatever they have in other people’s faces. But what if people are just doing their stuff? What if the last thing on their mind is showing off? He said that people should learn to keep whatever is working in their lives away from struggling people; your marriage, your health, your success and every thing that you have that others don’t have.
But the truth is to what extent can we really hide stuff like this from others? My take on this is that when you realise everything you have is nothing, and that life is fleeting and transient, you neither hide your success nor show them off. You just live one day at a time, in gratitude to the great I am.
